BIOGRAPHY ...

Rachel Emily Nichols was born on January 8, 1980, in Augusta, Maine. As a kid growing up in Maine, she enjoyed trekking through the outdoors and being on the water, windsurfing or sailing. At 5'10" and in her 20s, Rachel has thus far managed to pack in a lot of living. While modeling has been a mainstay of hers, she has also proven that she's got brains as well as beauty.

Rachel headed to New York's Columbia University, where she studied economics and psychology, and threw in some drama classes to increase her acting abilities. During her university years, she had the difficult task of balancing her education with her burgeoning modeling career, often flying between the United States and Europe to do photo shoots.

Coincidentally, Rachel describes her modeling career as purely accidental. According to her she was merely in the right place at the right time. But her accidental stumble into that industry was a gain for men worldwide. She was soon modeling prominently for companies like Guess? and Abercrombie & Fitch. Her runway work eventually led her to actively pursue an acting career.

After a bit part as a "model in a bar" in 2000's Autumn in New York, starring Winona Ryder and Richard Gere, Rachel's first noteworthy role came in 2002 on HBO's Sex and the City. As Alexa, a sexy hostess who gets involved in a threesome with Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and Richard (James Remar), Rachel caught viewers' attention. Next up was a supporting role as Jessica in the 2003 comedy Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.

Though Dumb and Dumberer was no hit, Rachel's onscreen presence was. Since then, her acting career has only experienced an upswing. Subsequent projects included two guest spots on the 2004 TV series Line of Fire, a starring role as Rebecca Locke on the FOX drama The Inside, and roles in the 2005 horror films The Amityville Horror and The Woods.

After the cancellation of The Inside she already moved on to a new project. So she will join the cast of the tv-show Alias starring Jennifer Garner. There she will play Rachel Gibson, a technical analyst working for a black ops division of the CIA.

While Rachel Nichols is sure to get more roles in the future, she has thus far established that she's someone to watch, and not just for her looks.
